Say Yes #10
On deciding whether to attempt this course, I came up with many excuses such as, I was unsure of understanding it, and of having the time to finish it. Did I want to create accounts, blog and put my thoughts out there, or did I want to try something new? I might add that these blogs of mine are getting lengthy as time rolls along. If I hadn't tried this, I wouldn't have discovered it's not difficult to create accounts, blog, find animal lovers, find music, upload pictures, and listen to audio books. I found downloading an audio book easy. The new information I have learned, has enabled me to feel knowledgeable enough to show and share with our library patrons. In working with computers, if something is easy to do and understand people are more inclined to do it. Also, I found out all this because I said yes to this course. Now, I am much more willing to try something new. I don't hesitate as much. Well, since completing this course, I am off to find new adventures and the possibilities like a river are endless.
In the Mix #9
The music sites LastFm, Upto11, and Liveplasma have some similar features and some one's that are unique. Features most common are creating accounts and profiles, ability to comment on artists, sharing with others and also, enjoying music. I liked the fact that with LastFm you could discover new artists, with Upto11 you could publish a playlist, and with Liveplasma you were able to explore music and movies. All of these capabilites is pretty amazing, online's broadening potential of socially connecting people with similar interests. Yet, there is concern not for this network of friends, but for diminishing relationships in our own homes. The people we face daily. When we use our computers, cell phones, Ipods or other technology, are we strengthening our relationships with people we come in contact with face to face, or are these people that we care about the most being ignored, the ones right in or own households. With the right balance and mix both can be done successfully having fun and learning in the process.

Playing Tag #8
After setting up a Flickr account which was relatively easy, I uploaded 5 photos taken at my work location. I kept expecting the pictures to appear on Flickr the instant it was done and I was able to view them. That is not the case there is a delay involved, this is understandable. Now, it was time to figure out and understand Creative Commons and the choices listed. Some choices were very clear others were not so. So, I move on to the tagging of photos. By tagging them with key words my photos as well as others, are easy to search for and locate on Flickr. I do like working with pics, and thought this was a great feature.

Fun, Fun, Fun #7
This week has been spent having some fun with the information that has been presented. Also, it has been a time to explore new areas and play catch up with this course. When I have been involved with this, I have tried to be totally focused and committed to learning. At times, it has been very frustrating and that has been due largely to my lack of certain knowledge with computers, I have been working with this mostly on my own, and on my own time which has taken numerous hours. Never has there been lack of desire to finish this course.

Take Your Pick #6
It was interesting to see the many, many libraries involved with Learn 2.0 I am especially pleased that Maryland Libraries are participants. I am quite proud. You see, Maryland is my home state and a part of my heart still remains there. I am equally proud to be a part of the Orange County Library staff and be involved with this course. When I explored Trainco, Dogster and catser, I found that whether it's a site of common interest, or one with a supporting atmosphere having a common goal in mind, you can find other people with similar interests. There is a place for everyone.

Looking Back #5
This week I am spending looking back at previous lessons. Each time I do this, I learn something new and exciting, something that I missed, or over looked the first time. I enjoy working at home, at my own pace in the quiet of my own environment. This is the place, I can get my thoughts together and can concentrate to write. Initially, I didn't realize I would enjoy, learn something new with these lessons, and have fun at the same time. For learning to be receptive, I feel that new challenges must contain all these elements. Getting back to the first lesson, we concentrated on the fact that all learning is lifelong and never too late or early to start. Many times it takes a group or community of people with the same goal to be effective. It must be fun and at the same time stimulating with various degrees of difficulty. All of us, can learn but we learn differently and at different paces. This is what makes life interesting something new, and fresh, something to look forward to as you wake up each day.
YouTube starring OCLS #4
It's innovative to see the library on YouTube and MySpace. The world is at one's fingertips, and at the same time that you realize the enormous global aspects of the web, you also know that your individuality is still intact. You can be what you want to be.
Adventures in RSS #3
It's taken me this long to blog again and comment on this lession. I am truely amazed at the amount of information that can be streamlined at the touch of one's mouse. I am hanging in there and plan on finishing Learn 2.0 This is a great opportunity for learning new areas of communication.
Welcome to the Blog
I finally created my first blog. At first, since I was unsure it took some time, many false attempts, and the patience of some co-workers. Once I was started the steps were easy enough to follow.
